WhatsApp is the most popular instant messaging app in India with 400 million active users. Facebook, a well-known firm, is constantly adding new features to make the platform more attractive and user-friendly. While peer-to-peer messaging is still the main feature, users can also post status updates, share stickers, and even make group video calls.
If you are a regular WhatsApp user, here are some cool tricks you should try.
Download whatsapp status
Similar to Instagram Stories, WhatsApp gives users the ability to post the status of a video. But did you know that you can also download status updates, including photos and videos of your friends, from the status feed?
One of the easiest ways is to download and install a third party application called Status downloader. This free download app on the Play Store allows you to upload images and share videos. The app automatically scans the status photos you’ve seen on your phone and allows you to upload and repost them.
Another way is to download the Files app. While it works with Google Files, you can also download the ES File Explorer app. Just click on any status and let the photo fully load. Now open the File app and go to WhatsApp > choose Media > Status. Note you need to enable “show hidden files” in the app.
Who fills your vault?
Which contact or group sends you the most images and videos? To find out, open WhatsApp on your smartphone. Go to Settings > Open data and storage usage > Storage usage. You will see a list of contacts, including the groups that are using your storage. The list is compiled in chronological order depending on the volume (MB or GB).
Make WhatsApp Data Friendly
Little data? WhatsApp offers many features to optimize the platform in such a situation. First you can disable automatic media download. Go to Settings > Open Data & Storage Usage > select one of the options, such as automatically downloading media when using mobile data or when connected via Wi-Fi. You can also enable low data usage when making a WhatsApp call. The function is also available in this window.

Hear voice messages discreetly
Don’t have headphones to check the voicemail you just received? Well, just press the play voice message button and hold the phone as you would during a call. WhatsApp automatically stops using the speakers to play the message and instead plays it through the phone’s earpiece.
Text Format
You can also customize text formatting in WhatsApp. While there are many third-party apps that change font color and style, you can also use some basic formatting commands. To send a message in bold, type *example*. For italics, try _example_. To strikethrough text, type ~example~.
